There are some subjects in the world that are taboo to most people. Granted this convention does change from country to country. The things that Americans never dare speak of in public may be something that the French have no qualms about talking about and vice versa. One of the topics that are often taboo in some societies is underwear or more specifically, lingerie. Sexy items in that department can be found in a number of stores and online and yet some people would still rather not talk about it, even if they have no qualms about wearing or seeing it.
When it comes to lingerie, sexy is the main attraction that most people are looking for. Whether it is a man looking to buy his loved one something interesting to wear or whether it is woman looking for something surprise her man with, they are all, for the most part, quite sexy and alluring. While people these days automatically associate lingerie with something sexy and alluring the use of the term to refer to the various types of sexy underwear is a fairly recent one. In fact the word, which is actually French, has no specific meaning in France as it refers to underwear in general. The 'English' version of the word refers to the various sexy garments that are available.
But the question that often comes to many people's minds is just what makes lingerie sexy? Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the person is basically prancing around in their underwear that has he attraction but if that is case why spend money on a special little number. The answer is probably two-fold. On the one hand, lingerie is cut much differently than normal underwear and is often made from other materials such as lace and silk which are a little more erotic. On the other hand the men's magazines of the 1960's may also play a part as they often showed models in skimpy lingerie that suggest rather than show anything specific.
Those are two possibilities concerning the attraction to lingerie. Sexy or not, lingerie has made its mark on the world and there is an astounding number of different sorts available. While still a relatively new addition to the vast market there is even lingerie meant for men starting to show their faces on the shelves of some stored and on online stores. What exactly these male lines will consist of we will have to wait and see though it is unlikely that there will ever be as much as there is for the ladies.
There is something strange and alluring that makes lingerie sexy. Perhaps we will never know all the reasons for its fame, though some would say infamy. But whatever the case may be the fact remains that are out there in a wide selection and variety for people of any size or shape. From the G-string to the slip to many, many others, the selection seems endless.
