Important Information about Psoriasis and Kopec Naturals Psoriasis Relief and Soothing Salt Scrub

I hope these answers to frequently asked questions improve your chances of improving the quality of your skin & reducing and possibly eliminating your psoriasis.

  1. What causes Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition affecting up to 3% of adults. Red patches of skin mixed with silvery, flaky scales spread on the surface of the skin. The most common type of psoriasis is plaque psoriasis. The exact cause of psoriasis is unknown. What is known about psoriasis is that every person contains a certain number of T-cells. Normal T-cells produce chemicals that help heal the skin. In psoriasis, T-cells can be overactive and these overactive T-cells produce a large amount of certain chemicals that actually attack healthy skin tissue causing inflammation and irritation.

Because everyone’s skin pH and internal pH is different, skincare products work differently on different people. The individuality of our external and internal chemical makeup including our immune system is also why psoriasis is such a complicated condition. Because our products are designed to improve the actual function of your skin, your skin may go through various changes while your skin pH balances. Your skin will work better and therefore become more sensitive to chemicals that are harmful. Your skin will do a better job of rejecting other products that are harmful to your skin.

  1. Why should I use Psoriasis Relief and Soothing Salt Scrub alone?

You may experience an adverse reaction if you mix the potency of Psoriasis Relief with other topical products. With Psoriasis Relief your skin will do a better job of rejecting harmful toxins/harmful ingredients in skincare products, and it may be difficult to heal with without eliminating these other topical products. There are countless chemical toxins and irritants in multiple skincare products, and it can be impossible to determine which one might be acerbating your condition. If you feel you need your doctor’s permission to use our products alone, please do so.

  1. What should I know about Soothing Salt Scrub and Psoriasis?

Soothing Salt Scrub is a truly unique product with many applications due to the extraordinary healing properties of our pink Himalayan sea salt and the blend of other ingredients designed to bring out the most benefits in the salt. Unlike other commercial sea salt, our pink Himalayan sea salt contains over 84 ionized minerals, and is still mined by hand deep in the Himalayan mountains. Not only do we specially blend our salt with therapeutic ingredients to improve circulation, which will improve blood flow and healing to any skin condition, pink Himalayan sea salt has been proven to restore the tissue in psoriasis.

  1. How should I use the combination of Psoriasis Relief and Soothing Salt Scrub or either alone?

If you are using both the Psoriasis Relief and the Soothing Salt Scrub, many of our customers find the following routine to offer the best results:

In the shower, mix the Soothing Salt Scrub to refresh and grab a handful of our Soothing Salt Scrub and massage onto the skin. Leave on for a few minutes and rinse. Or soak in a bath with a ½ cup of the Soothing Salt Scrub in bath water.

On separate occasions, use the Psoriasis Relief on clean and dry skin. Apply Psoriasis Relief to your skin on a cotton pad or if skin is too sensitive you can apply the solution directly to your skin. Use at least twice a day. Consistent use will improve results. Keep the bottle closed when not in use since certain ingredients will loose their effectiveness with exposure to air. Discontinue using over the counter soaps and lotions while using Psoriasis Relief since some soaps can interfere in the effectiveness of Psoriasis Relief, especially soaps and shampoos containing Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, the most common skin irritant.

  1. What is SLS and why should I avoid it?

SLS stands for Sodium Lauryl (or Laureth) Sulfate or since the recent bad press on it sometimes it is referred to as Sodium Laureth Sulfate. SLS is the ingredient that causes your liquid soaps, shampoos and toothpastes to foam. But SLS is quickly becoming a well know irritant and toxin. It can be such an irritant with anyone suffering from skin conditions, that we strongly recommend avoiding any and all products with SLS. Since our goal is to help you clear your skin, we hope you will consider removing at the very least the most common skin toxin, SLS, and we know it is in everything. And we try to make this as easy as possible by providing you with SLS Free products. For the purest skincare, avoid all Lauryl Sulfates.

  1. What do you recommend for shampoo that is SLS Free and a healthy sunscreen?

Many of our customers also find they like the SLS Free Body Wash as an all in one. We now carry our own sunscreen due to the overwhelming demand for a quality sunscreen for condition skin and because I was not happy with the ones I recommended, so I made my own. Simple Sunscreen, SPF 30 Sunscreen and Moisturizer.

  1. Do you have any nutritional recommendations for those with psoriasis?

Psoriasis has been linked to nutritional deficiencies including Essential fatty acids such as Omega 3 and 6, Beta Carotene, Vitamin D, Vitamin B's and Zinc.

Those with psoriasis can find their immune system further depleted with foods made with white flour such as pasta, bread and crackers and cookies. Switching to these kinds of products made with rice flour or made gluten free has proven to be beneficial in a program intended to overcome psoriasis. As does the avoidance of sugar. Sugar is a serious immune suppressor. For every teaspoon of sugar we consume, the immune system is depleted by 10%. Since most Americans consume beyond the normal amount of sugar every year, the over consumption of sugar is one of our greatest health risks. Sugar includes the following: sugar, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, dextrose, maltodextrin, fructose, splenda and aspartame.
