Important Information about Kopec Naturals Cold and Canker Relief

  1. What causes canker sores?

Canker sores are recurrent minor aphthous ulcers. Canker sores are the most common oral lesion and can be a minor irritation or a chronic painful condition.

A canker sore can develop when a person's individual immune system is not working optimally combined with certain irritants.

There are several irritants which can bring on an outbreak of a canker sore. One of the most prevalent irritants that can cause an outbreak is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is the foaming agent found in most toothpastes and liquid soaps and shampoos. Using products with SLS continually cause a breeding ground for a bacterial or viral outbreak. All that may be needed to the mix is another irritant such as stress or sugars (including high frustose corn syrup) for an outbreak to occur. Nutritional deficiencies associated with Canker sores are Vitamin B's, C, E and zinc.

  1. What causes cold sores?

Cold sores are part of the herpes simplex virus. There are eight types of identified herpes viruses, and two are known to cause cold sores. They are type 1 and 2. The most common cause of a cold sore is the combination of a depleted immune system and added stress triggers.

  1. Why should I use a product to address both a canker and cold sore?

Sometimes a cold sore and a canker sore can resemble each other, although we typically refer to a cold sore when it resides on the outside of the mouth and a canker sore on the inside of the mouth, but both can occur in either place. Kopec Naturals uses potent ingredients that can resolve either type of outbreak as a result, no matter the distinction you can still experience relief.

  1. How should I use Cold and Canker Relief?

Use the salve on the outside of your mouth and other body areas you are experiencing a herpes simplex virus outbreak or a canker sore outbreak that has spread to the outside of the mouth.

Use the ointment on the sores located on the inside of the mouth. The ointment is NOT ingested, and please do not swallow. Do NOT use before or after you have brushed your teeth. Make sure your mouth is free of all toothpaste residue and food particles.

  1. Do you have any other products to help with this situation?

We make a wonderful full strength potent mouthwash called Real Mouthwash. Many of our customers prefer the medicinal quality of our mouth wash when caring for mouth sores.

We also make a wonderful SLS free all in one wash and an SLS free facial wash.

  1. What is SLS and why should I avoid it?

SLS stands for Sodium Lauryl (or Laureth) Sulfate or since the recent bad press on it sometimes it is referred to as Sodium Laureth Sulfate. SLS is the ingredient that causes your liquid soaps, shampoos and toothpastes to foam. But SLS is quickly becoming a well know irritant and toxin. It can be such an irritant with anyone suffering from skin conditions, that we strongly recommend avoiding any and all products with SLS. Since our goal is to help you clear your skin, we hope you will consider removing at the very least the most common skin toxin, SLS, and we know it is in everything. And we try to make this as easy as possible by providing you with SLS Free products. For the purest skincare, avoid all Lauryl Sulfates.

  1. What do you recommend for toothpaste?

Jason brand is now caring an SLS free toothpaste, as does Tom’s of Maine. The label MUST say SLS free on the front in order to be SLS free. Not all Jason toothpastes and not all Tom’s of Maine are SLS free.

  1. Do you have any nutritional recommendations for those with cold and canker sores?

Avoiding SLS in toothpastes, shampoos and all liquid soaps is imperative, on a regular basis to minimize repeat episodes.

During an outbreak, it is important to avoid sugar in all forms (sugar, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, dextrose, maltodextrin, fructose, splenda and aspartame), especially high fructose corn syrup.

Be aware of stress levels during an outbreak and try to manage your stress as best you can.

Supplements that can improve the body’s ability to fight infection are a combination of the following taken throughout the day: Vitamin B complex, Lysine, Vitamin C, E and zinc.
