UFC 57 (2/4/06) Riggs defeated Nick Diaz by unanimous decision.
UFC 56 (11/19/05) Riggs stepped up on short notice to take on world champion Matt Hughes. It was a non-title fight as Riggs did not make weight and Riggs lost by submission (Kimura) in 3:28 of the first round.
UFC 55 (10/07/05) Riggs became the first man to ever finish veteran fighter Chris Lytle when he TKO’ed him after an elbow from the bottom opened a huge cut at 2:00 of the second round.
UFC 52 (4/16/05) Riggs lost to Ivan Salaverry by triangle choke at 2:42 of the first round.
UFC 49 (8/21/04) Riggs defeated Joe Doerksen by submission due to strikes at 2:39 of the second round
Q&A Thoughts on Opponent, Jason Von Flue? I think he’s a good opponent for me. He’s a tough guy and he’s got a lot of heart. He can take punishment, so I think it’s a fight where I can showcase a lot of my skills.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I got started boxing as a child by my father. I grew to love it because of the one on one aspect. In high school I began wrestling, becoming a 2-time All-American. Wrestling was another way for me to compete one on one against top competition.
What ranks and titles have you held? BJJ blue belt, 4 time Desert Quest champion, 2 time Grappler's Quest Advance Champion, Rage in the Cage Heavyweight and Middleweight Champion, Art of War Heavyweight Champion, Evolution Combat Heavyweight Champion, XCF Light-Heavyweight Champion.
Do you have any heroes? Randy Couture.
What is your favorite technique? Right hook.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It has been my dream to fight in the UFC since I was 10 years old.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I attended college for a year, but left to pursue my fighting career
What was your job before you started fighting? Going to school. I have been fighting since high school.
