Russian Prime Minister Vladamir Putin has said the US should take a lesson from the pages of Russian history and not exercise “excessive intervention in economic activity and blind faith in the state’s omnipotence”.
“In the 20th century, the Soviet Union made the state’s role absolute,” Putin said during a speech at the opening ceremony of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. “In the long run, this made the Soviet economy totally uncompetitive. This lesson cost us dearly. I am sure nobody wants to see it repeated.”
Sounding more like Barry Goldwater than the former head of the KGB, Putin said, “Nor should we turn a blind eye to the fact that the spirit of free enterprise, including the principle of personal responsibility of businesspeople, investors, and shareholders for their decisions, is being eroded in the last few months. There is no reason to believe that we can achieve better results by shifting responsibility onto the state.”
Putin also cautioned the US against using military Keynesianism to lift its economy out of recession, saying, “in the longer run, militarization won’t solve the problem but will rather quell it temporarily. What it will do is squeeze huge financial and other resources from the economy instead of finding better and wiser uses for them.” Putin’s comments come in sharp contrast to Russia’s own military buildup and expansion.
Putin also echoed the words of conservative maverick Ron Paul when he said, “we must assess the real situation and write off all hopeless debts and ‘bad’ assets. True, this will be an extremely painful and unpleasant process. Far from everyone can accept such measures, fearing for their capitalization, bonuses, or reputation. However, we would ‘conserve’ and prolong the crisis, unless we clean up our balance sheets.”
“The time for enlightenment has come. We must calmly, and without gloating, assess the root causes of this situation and try to peek into the future.”

I’ve been reading along for a while now. I just wanted to drop you a comment to say keep up the good work.
Great article. too bad it’ll fall on deaf ears in Washington.
This is absolutely correct. Maybe we should learn from those who know socialism is bad. Silly democrats.
putin has ulterior motives, NOBODY LISTEN!
“Putin’s comments come in sharp contrast to Russia’s own military buildup and expansion.”
Russia’s military budget for 2008: $70 billion
US’s military budget for 2008: $700+ billion

Sure dont listen to someone who speaks of reason, rather listen to those who espouse insanity. Putin is telling us, if we move to socialism, America is over. And when the civil war starts because of it, who do you think is coming in to gobble up whats left… Id bet anything, Russia and China will.
Putin seems to be right and if he doesnt know -who does?Obama?He does not qualify by way of birth in usa to be president.
This article is leaving out that when Putin stated this at the economic convention, Bill Clinton stated “he has never seen Russia talk about embracing capitalism, but he hopes that they start” after Clinton said that the whole room burst into laughter. All knowing that Russia is full of shit.
I like Jeff Rense and his site very much. However I am starting to see this pro Russian articles posted more and more. We have enough lies people, do not believe Russia is all that. They are still years behind the states just on food distribution alone. The west has no friends in the semi east,middle east or the far east.
This is too much for me to wrap my mind around. I think my intense anger is causing auditory hallucinations. I’m pretty sure I just heard a few thousand people rolling in their graves.
you spelled Socialism wrong
Who would have thought up this turn of events? Our monetary system is tanking, and Russia is talking sense!
If you have time or desire, kindly critique this proposal. The debt-based fractional reserve banking system is in its death throes. I personally don’t think a return to a gold-backed currency managed by 100% reserve banking system is sufficient to rectify the imbalanced indebtedness created in the last 100 years, nor would the financial class allow such. They must be offered something in return for a peaceful transition rather than blood in the streets, which I fear is coming.
By Constitutional Amendment, on Jan. 1, 2012—
1) Federal Reserve Notes (FRN), Treasury Securities, Checkable Deposit Accounts, and existing Cash Stocks are redeemed in new American Freedom Notes or new Checkable Deposit Accounts denominated in American Freedom Notes.
2) Fractional-reserve banking, the legal empowerment by the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 to create money by the Federal Reserve System Banks without offering consideration in exchange for signed promissory notes, is repealed.
3) All institutions or parties holding debt denominated in FRN in any form to the Federal Reserve System of Banks, or owing debt to corporate or government bond-holders, are absolved from such debt and immediately assume 100% ownership of any collateralized assets.
4) All institutions or parties holding promissory notes which encumber tangible assets (factories, farms, land, businesses, homes, machinery, inventory, etc.), or holding corporate or government bonds are compensated for the nullification of these interest-bearing notes by the creation of a quantity of American Freedom Notes equal in value to the unpaid principal, as of January 1, 2012, or nominal bond value, as of January 1, 2009.
5) All institutions of the Federal Reserve Banking System owed uncollateralized credit card debt are compensated for the nullification of these interest-bearing credit card accounts by the creation of a quantity of American Freedom Notes equal in value to the unpaid principal existing on these accounts on January 1, 2009.
6) Loans made from the pool of American Freedom Notes are subject to interest rates determined solely by the contracting parties.
7) The quantity of American Freedom Notes is fixed in perpetuity at the level established on January 1, 2012. Deflation and increased purchasing power of the American Freedom Note are the hallmarks of the new economy. From time to time, due to natural physical attrition in the money supply, Congress may authorize replacement of American Freedom Notes, based on a formula determined by Congress subject to the restriction that any such formula attempts to arrive at the correct number of American Freedom Notes requisite to restore their number to the quantity in existence on January 1, 2012. The United States Treasury is empowered to void and replace worn or unusable American Freedom Notes on a one-to-one basis at any time.
Everything that Putin says here is spot on. Does that mean that Russia is the “good guys”? Of course not. At least he is speaking the truth about this unlike all our so called leaders.
The U.S. Taxpayer (or Government, [lol]) spends more on their military then all the rest of the world put together. (Mike Gravel, 2008, in so many words).
contrary to Russia’s buildup?
Is this writer paid off? Russia has missile systems being placed in nearly every country nearby them by the US. I would build up too if I were them!
Think think think, Banker made billions off our hard labor, then not happy stole more from furture generations, next time you ride by a school yard and see those childern playing. Now each one of them owes thousands of dollars. Back to basics, find the problem then fix the problem. What’s the old saying HASTE MAKES WASTE. Fix one problem at a time—-if a company fails, or bank there is a reason—BAD MANAGEMENT.
When a machine breaks down, one part is broke not the whole machine. If we need to we may want to put some of these clowns in jail=== A thug robs a bank with a gun we put them in jail. A CEO ROBS A BANK WITH A PEN AND THEY GET MILLIONS IN A BONUS. So sweet we the average Joe are not that stupid.
Wow, now why would a foreigner with Socialism experience be saying this. hummmmm, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck………..it must be SOCIALISM!!!
My Comment: The Populations Have in Factual evidence proven to be alway’s m,anipulated by person’s in power. That is to say it has alway’s been done, And there is not within them to do otherwise. Live Long, And if posible own your own Destiny. Many Blessings.
1-20-09 The Beginning of a NEW Error!
The common denominator throughout history for empires imploding is FINANCE. When you honestly look at this you will see the same crafty tribes at the center. Everything else is advertising.
If it is sold here (USA) - then it should be made here. This will give people money to buy the goods they need. People also need to mostly pay with cash & stay debt free (this will make the bankers mad). Get rid of the fed. reserve. Throw the gangsters in jail - that would be something new. Throw the foreigners out & take our country back. No work- no eat.
Wow, and just think, they don’t sell their arms for 25% of their true value as the United States of Israel’s dual citizenship Sec of defense did with a flight of new 16’s sold to our controllers in Israel for 25 cents on the dollar as “surplus”. Can you say p a r a s i t e?
Wonder where the US will be in 4yrs, 7yrs, 10 yrs?
Wonder why no one else is wondering?
Putin is just confirming what we already know. Socialism doesn’t work. Take it from an expert…
Putin for President of the U.S.! He makes more sense at the present time than any American politician. Obummer is a threat and McClown is a joke. Sarah might work out. She can see Putin from her front yard!
Putin has been more restraining . He gets alot of rhetoric from other leaders cause he has been triing to pay off Russia’s debt paid off so as to be a FREE NATION !
That’s what all this is about free isn’t it ?
…actually he should have been warning us against Fascism.and Zionism…and , of course, racism
Our young people play “Grand theft” video games and listen to “rap” dirt while we submit ourselves to an African president. Harvard is held as an icon of higher learning, and Islam is forcing changes not only in our culture but our laws. The republican philosophies we’re founded upon are ridiculed while the socialist ideologies that have failed worldwide are coming into vogue. The white male whose blood bought us these unprecedented freedoms is held in contempt while the black male who has killed more of us than either the Korean or Vietnam wars is seen as the face of the “New America”. What’s wrong with this picture, it’s too late to ask of course, the point of reason has been passed without so much as a debate. But one should perhaps keep in mind that what’s coming did not happen because of racism or bigotry, but because of the failure to enforce the principles of the most enlightened government in history. Question is, are you prepared, my guess is nope, not even close.
Russia is like the wild west. I went to work on a job in Siberia, a 5 hour trip from Moscow to Yakutsk Siberia. Had to show my passport before getting on the Aeroflot flight in Moscow and also after the plane landed in Yakutsk.
As a world leader at least Putin has some degree of honesty unlike the constant dishonesty displayed by our North American leadership.
Vlad has balls ! He is telling the truth.
Putin,has warned many about the true threat of the agenda of the one world order cabal. They are zionist who call themselfs jews,but most have no jewish blood whatsoever.Who’s owns the federal reserve? Who controls all money in all western countries and most third world countries? who control 95% of all media? who controls hollywood? Who has more organizations than any other race? Who can have you sent to prison in many countries for disagreeing with them on parts of world war 2?Who stole a country and keep the ones left in a walled prison and murder them daily? Who is getting all the billions being approved right now? Who gets over three billion a year from American taxpayers? Who is taboo to speak of? Iran and Russia along with most countries understand who controls all western countries. Will you ever understand?
Is it just me or has thirty years of Americas anti-russian media white wash paid off. You can’t just say Russia is full of shit. That’s total non-sense. He’s right. That’s the point. There’s a lot of people dismissing him as wrong - because he Russian.
Oh. And for those people who think it’s a way to write off Russias massive debt - America is number 27 in the list of largest national debt, Britain is 50. Russia isn’t in the top 50. That makes more sense for America to write it off! They owe 75% of GDP to debt!
“In the 20th century, the Soviet Union made the state’s role absolute,” Putin said during a speech at the opening ceremony of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. “In the long run, this made the Soviet economy totally uncompetitive. Hmmmm, I am just curious were the present day Russia is more competitive then the USSR were? One or two example please, anybody
Are You Stimulated Yet?
The Gazette Editor is right; this Pork Bill isn’t likely to stimulate our economy though it does expand Government quite a bit. Since Government is not the source of wealth, instead merely the absorber (sorta like a panty liner), it seems more likely to me that this will hurt us and in many ways that we’ve yet to comprehend.
BO is correct in stating he inherited this declining economy with its banking debacle. And of course all the left publicly blames Bush. He was in office when it happened. I blame Bush as well, for not doing anything to stop the very thing he warned us about in 2001. Yep, ole W. told us the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac expansion was going to cost us big time but I don’t recall him asking congress to crack down on loans to under or non-qualified applicants.
Of course, Bush didn’t push those rules through Congress nor force those fund administrators to change their criteria for letting money to new home buyers. That was the Democratic Congress and Dem administrators (which Bush had failed to fire) during the CLINTON administration (1998). Funny we don’t hear about more of that, though. And of course, it was Bush who spent billions keeping us safe from Muslim maniacs and who took the first Democratic government to the Middle East that isn’t Israel. I suppose Bush could have just set around and talked to the liars club until there was another 6 or 7 attacks like his predecessor. Maybe the deficit would have been lower then.
Bush didn’t give away or sell any land (which Government doesn’t own) but he did sign a bill allowing oil exploration and drilling on lands already proven to house oil so that our economy wouldn’t be wrecked for lack of oil nor held in thrall to Muslim Maniacs. There are huge proven reserves under the Rockies and in NE Montana, North and South Dakota. There are also huge reserves in the Canadian Rockies and off shore of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, and California. Interestingly, our daft environmentalists go stark, raving mad at the mere mention of drilling, oil production, or nuclear energy even though there have never been any oil drilling, production, nor nuclear accidents injuring anything except the Exxon Valdez. That particular Bay is as clean and full of wildlife as it ever was. There are many more Caribou now than there was when the Alaskan pipeline was first put in.
It has been really difficult to find information on the current Dem Pork Stimulating Fraud. They wouldn’t even let the GOP members read the darn thing except in excerpts.
Here some of the things we know exist in it.
• 600 million for a new fleet of cars for federal employees;
• $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts;
• $335 million for HIV and sexually transmitted disease prevention (read that: they will throw $335 million worth of condoms and “how to use them” materials by the likes of Planned Parenthood and the homosexual lobby at your innocent children);
• $200 million for the National Mall, including sod, presumably to replace what was trampled and destroyed during the inauguration (not to mention the 130 tons of litter strewn by the ever so environmentally friendly Obama supporters);
• $650 million for digital TV converter coupons;
• 2 billion to subsidize child care (for whom?);
• $1.1 billion for Amtrak, which hasn’t shown a profit in four decades;
• $300 million for the AmeriCorps “volunteer” program (I guess all those “volunteer’s need great big salaries);
• $400 million for research into global warming;
• 2.4 billion more for global warming worded differently: to demonstrate how carbon greenhouse gas can be safely removed from the atmosphere (how planting trees which LIVE on CO2);
• $1 billion for next year’s census (which BO wants to personally run); and
• Millions for illegal aliens including free health care and SS even though they aren’t actually citizens of the USA
The corruption in Washington is so widespread and so pervasive; it is incomprehensible to the average person. There is only one cure. Never again vote for an incumbent; vote them ALL out of office, force term limits on all legislators, and limit the numbers of years any Judge may sit on the bench.

Don’tcha love it– The Kremlin red-baiting the US gummit….
Putin is right.
And hell has indeed frozen over. Russkie leaders lecturing American leaders about free markets. The devil is passing out snow cones down there.
What is Putin Scheming now??
We should be wary of Putin, however his comments are correct. We should maintain a top-shelf military, while trusting the individual and minimizing government.
Heads need to roll ! When you hear how all these mortgage business who made billions off of selling subprime loans to Wall Street and Wall Street made even more selling them off as real estate backed securities, this is FRAUD. Upper management in Wall Street, Mortgage Companies, Banks etc. should be getting JAIL time not bonuses! This whole thing is way of whack. Let things settle where they settle, we need a good shake up. Obama is spending too much time on TV and not enough time on the issues. Let GM, Chrysler and Ford fall if that’s what it takes, quit throwing good money after bad. The unions and poor leadership put these guys in the hole so why should we throw them a rope. Why should people like me who worked hard and have no debt pay for some schmuck who bought above his means? This is going to get real ugly so hold on.
Oy! Let’s just get on with our own American Freedom lives and not concern ourselves with this self-serving non-sense!
The old playground saying “Takes one to know one” certainly applies here. Who better to recognize socialist leanings than a (former?) socialist leader?! Maybe America should heed his warnings.
JJ posted a note relating to the military buildup taking place in Russia. I would like you to simply recognize that they would not have had the money for this if they had not dropped their socialist based economy in favor for a capitalistic one. We however are moving more and more each day towards socialism in the US, even though anyone with an IQ over 50 can see that it did not work there and is not working in Europe. There are many people in this country who have consistently “put it all on the line” in spite of the fact that many of them have already made fortunes, just to create something. These people because of all of the ridiculous regulation have decided that they “do not need the hassle” and have stopped creating. We are literally in a downward spiral and it will continue. The more we tax, the more we will lose. Get ready for the USSA people it is coming.
OK, Vlad - put those sensible ideas into practice and we might see the next United States unfolding before our very eyes (just kidding). I own some real estate in Russia and have little compunction against moving there if Obama keeps on this course. Russia, for all its problems, has about a 13% flat tax and even that is negotiable. I think the Russian state is weaker than America’s so that works out to mean more liberty in the long run. Unfortunately, the trade off is weak or non-existent property rights. If the U.S. starts killing property rights, it’s kind of a no-brainer. I’m out of here.
Except Russian military expansion is actually DEFENSIVE
Umm, I fight for this country. Contrary to what most of you may be thinking, the Russians are nowhere near the “good guys”. How long have they held resentment or frustration or what have you against the US? Granted we are in a pretty messed up situation right now, this is whats called Natural Selection. Let the bad weed itself out and fix itself from within. I agree with some points you all have on here, it is true that a thug can rob a bank and they throw away the key; and that a CEO can do the same and they pat his back, another military saying “rank has its priveledges”. They are wrong for doing the things that they do and taking food from our childrens mouths and clothes from our back. US We the people, who work so hard for this country to make everything run smoothly. What we have in the higher offices is a lack of discipline, and integrity among other things.. like the rotten stench of greed. America will fix itself, we’ve been through tougher times and made it. why should this be any different? Russia, offering us financial advice… when have they ever got it right? please people, can you not see through this guy? All this with a kicker too: they’re building up their military again, and don’t forget, pushing into new territory, and telling us that we can only move non- combative supplies into Afghan when moving through their territory. Keep in mind “their” territory, those places are sovereign states now, this isn’t the USSR anymore. It’s almost the same thing as using reverse psychology, in my opinion..
So maybe some of that 780- some odd billion dollars ends up lining someones pockets, it’s bound to happen. Hopefully we can rely on people to see what’s happening to our beautiful country and spend their portion of the money correctly. Now Putin, having put his two cents in, on top of Russia as a collective never liking us since… WW1? Maybe 2, anyways he says “No don’t inject money into your failing system.” we agree and cancel this money, now our system crashes. What can this country do with a devastated economy? Hell, I heard that the Great Depression was a blast when everything failed..
I really don’t wanna see that happen to my generation, my children, or my childrens kids, I’m sure none of you do either. Cause once everything comes tumbling down.. Who’s going to be there to help us put it back together? These so- called Allies, or the “good guys”? Yes, they will be there, but for a price.
I know for a fact that my forefathers and yours did not fight for this country 300 something years ago to establish our independence as a country on our own, only to be eventually be conquered by money and politics. By that I mean these countries coming in and helping to dig our economy out of the rubble in exchange for a stake in our land or whatever they might ask. Seeing as they would have the advantage. No money = No fight just about, without our money we could not withstand a prolonged military conflict. Say, an invasion of some sort.. Either way you look at it, we need to be real here. We don’t have alot of friends in the world right now cause of the position we’ve put ourself in.
Putin “warns” us? He’s full of it! Russian Socialism was a form of Russian nationalism! He is still practicing an agressive form of policy against E.Europe. Poland suffered for fifty years under Russian imperialism. He has threatened Poland and E.Europe and the Baltics again, because they want to be independent. Look at how this scumbag turned off the gas to Ukraine! A nation that saw 10-20million Ukrainians murdered in the “Forgotten Holocaust” by the Russians. The murder of critics of his government, and reporters. So let him sling his bullshit to the gullible and ignorant. Those who are not studants of history are doomed to be victams of history!
Woah, where the hell do we start with amazing pile of bullshit the GRATING Frank threw at us!
First off, Russia is practicing a DEFENSIVE policy in its own borders - something America hasn’t done in at least 30 years! *DUH!*
Russia has not “threatened” Poland - Poland is allowing the US to build a missile system in its country that threatens Russia! *DUH!*
And you know why Russia turned off the gas to Ukraine? BECAUSE UKRAINE WAS NOT PAYING THE BILLS! THAT IS CAPITALISM! Oh, so all of a sudden Russia should give its gas away for free now? Give me a fucking break! And Ukraine was then being spiteful by turning off the pipelines running from Russia into the other European nations that ran through Ukraine! *DUH!*
Holodomor happened as the result of SOCIALISM - which is what Putin warning against! *DUH!*
And you would LOVE it if Bush had sent hit squads on liberal reporters - HYPOCRITE!
Seems those who are locked into one way of thinking are doomed to be victims of it!
