A new study has shown that giving Hepatitis B vaccine to newborn baby boys more than triples their risk of developing an autism spectrum disorder.
The study’s authors used U.S. probability samples obtained from National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) 1997–2002 datasets. The conclusion states that: “Findings suggest that U.S. male neonates vaccinated with hepatitis B vaccine had a 3-fold greater risk of ASD.”
Routine use of the hepatitis B vaccine for all newborns began in 1992, despite the fact that there was absolutely NO logical argument for it. It should never have been included in the immunization schedule, and here’s why.
Do Newborns Really NEED the Hepatitis B Vaccine?
Folks, hepatitis B is about as difficult to catch as AIDS. Namely, you nearly always need to have blood or sexual contact of some sort. That is why the main risk factors are IV drug abusers and those who engage in sex with multiple partners. In addition, vaccine-derived immunity is thought to be short lived. Up to 60 percent of persons who initially respond will lose detectable antibodies within 12 years. So that means that these vaccines will provide little to no protection to the real risks of acquiring hepatitis B, namely promiscuous sexual behavior and IV drug abuse.

Even with only 10 percent of the problems being reported, there were nearly 25,000 VAERS hepatitis B reports from July 1990 to October 31, 1998 (prior to adding the Hep B vaccine to the immunization schedule), showing 439 deaths and 9,673 serious reactions involving emergency room visits, hospitalization, disablement, or death. Now, hepatitis B is a rare, mainly blood-transmitted disease. In 1996 only 54 cases of the disease were reported to the CDC in the 0-1 age group. There were 3.9 million births that year, so the observed incidence of hepatitis B in the 0-1 age group was just 0.001 percent. Meanwhile, in that same year VAERS received 1,080 total reports of adverse reactions from hepatitis B vaccine in the 0-1 age group, including 47 deaths! Put in simpler terms: for every child that contracted hepatitis B there were 20 immunized babies that were reported to have severe complications. Let us also remember that only 10 percent of the reactions are ever reported, which means traditional medicine is harming about 200 children to protect one from hepatitis B! It is simply inexcusable…

Let us also remember that only 10 percent of the reactions are ever reported, which means traditional medicine is harming about 200 children to protect one from hepatitis B!
It is simply inexcusable…

At the time, the Hep B vaccine contained 25 micrograms of thimerosal – a mercury-containing ingredient that has long been thought to be a contributing factor to autism due to its potent neurotoxic effects. According to the FDA, new thimerosal-free pediatric formulations of hepatitis B vaccines were licensed in August 1999, (Recombivax-HB by Merck) and in January 2007 (Engerix-B by Glaxo SmithKline). However, despite the fact that the Hep B vaccine no longer contains thimerosal, recent research have shown that the Hepatitis B vaccine can still damage myelin in those with certain genetic factors. One recent study found that children who received the Hepatitis B vaccine were 50 percent more likely to develop "central nervous system inflammatory demyelination" than children who did not receive the vaccine. GlaxoSmithKline’s Engerix B brand of the vaccine was shown to be the worst of the bunch, increasing the risk of demyelination by 74 percent. It also nearly tripled the risk of developing multiple sclerosis in genetically susceptible people. As I mentioned above, Engerix-B was licensed as a thimerosal free version of the vaccine in January 2007. However, all formulations contain approximately 0.5 mg of aluminum per mL of vaccine instead, which may be even worse than mercury… As you can see, there are likely a wide variety of potential factors involved; not just one vaccine or one ingredient. We need to know what all of these exposures in combination mean to the health of our children if we ever want to turn this tide of autism around.

Again, newer studies dispute initial industry-funded findings that thimerosal is safe to inject. For example, a study published in the journal Toxicological & Environmental Chemistry in June this year, showed that the mercury-based compound used as a vaccine preservative -- known as ‘thimerosal’ -- induces neural damage similar to that seen in autism patients. According to the study, thimerosal-induced cellular damage led to: Concentration- and time-dependent mitochondrial damage Reduced oxidative-reduction activity Cellular degeneration Cell death Even low concentrations of thimerosal induced significant cellular toxicity in human neuronal and fetal cells. Thimerosal was also found to be significantly more toxic than the other metal compounds examined. Four years ago, Robert F. Data indicated that the toxic heavy metal appeared to be responsible for a drastic increase in autism and other neurological disorders among children. However, rather than taking every precaution to protect public health, they spent the majority of the next two days plotting how to protect the industry’s bottom line by getting rid of the troubling data. Although thimerosal was eventually removed from the majority of childhood vaccines in 2001, it’s still used in some multi-dose vials, and is present in nearly all seasonal flu vaccines. Many of the soon-to-be-introduced swine flu vaccines will also contain 25 mcg of mercury. Another recent study confirming the link between low-level mercury poisoning in children and diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) was published in the Journal of Neurological Sciences in September 2008. It was the first prospective, blinded cohort study to examine children diagnosed with an ASD using urinary porphyrin profile analysis (UPPA) to assess the physiological effects of mercury toxicity. They also used glutathione analysis to assess the children’s susceptibility to mercury poisoning. Children with severe ASDs were found to have significantly higher levels of mercury intoxication in comparison to participants with mild ASDs. And glutathione -- a key biochemical in your body’s mercury detoxification pathway -- was significantly lower in patients diagnosed with an ASD in comparison with the control group. I’d like to point out, though, that although this study shows a relationship between lower glutathione levels and greater severity of autism, mercury is not the only toxin that can affect glutathione levels. There’s a plethora of toxins in your daily environment that contribute to your toxic load, so any number of toxins may be contributing to the problem. For example, there’s strong evidence suggesting that toxic microbes, endotoxins, environmental chemicals like phthalates, and the influence of electromagnetic fields may be significant contributing factors to autism as well. And vitamin D deficiency has recently been implicated as an underlying condition.

My (adopted at birth) newborn baby was vaccinated with Hep B even though we had gone to great lengths to get birthmom to sign the papers to prevent Hep B vaccine from being given. Thanks to unnecessary fetal monitoring and the whole cascade of nasty medical interventions that sets off, the baby was born severely distressed. Then the doctor cut the umbilical cord immediately, guaranteeing damage to every major organ including the brain from lack of oxygen. And then they hauled the baby off to "Newborn Intensive Care" and apparently did the Hep B vaccine within a couple of hours after birth, before she was even considered "stable." Next she was put on "preventative" IV antibiotics for three days in case she had inhaled meconium, even though the scope and x-ray showed no meconium in the lungs. An autism expert told me "A high percentage of babies given IV antibiotics at birth become autistic" because the development of normal gut flora is prevented (the baby's gut will be populated by candida and clostridia and that's about it). The moral of this story is, don't give birth in a hospital (a choice we didn't have because of adoption)! And if you do, don't let the baby out of the sight of a fully aware, awake adult who will fight for the baby's life!
My daughter was "different from the beginning." She was vaccine injured by DTaP at 5 months. She began a rapid regression into autism at age 13 months. With the help of several different wonderful alternative practitioners, she "turned around" and is very close to normal behavior at age 7, but still has very serious health problems and requires constant monitoring and very expensive care.
There's really no question about the origin of autism. 99% of the time it's caused by cumulative effects of the assorted BAD PRACTICES of western medicine, as in my daughter's case. Searching for one cause of autism is another ignorant allopathic mistake, but one which serves confusion and cover-up very well.

With my wife pregnant with our first I have followed such topics closely. We toured the hospital that she will birth at and got a feel for how they handle different problems and what the standard procedures are. Unfortunately the procedures that you describe above are "standard". Fortunately though, they basically say that the parents are in the driver's seat when it comes to decisions (though when it comes to "emergencies" I'm assuming that goes out the window - cords will be cut and IVs given). We have hired a doula to help us create a birth plan that addresses all the possibilities and recommned that to anyone. Giving birth at home vs the hospital... well, that's an individual choice that was a bit of a toss up for us but I think the hospital is ok (and possibly very good in the case of breach, etc.) as long as you go in with a good plan and resolve.
wannalotta, I, too was prepared well. I had a birth plan and was not going to vaccinate my son for Hep B. The Pediatrition came in hours after his birth while I was still reeling from childbirth and very emotional. He proceeded to tell me horror stories about why I should get him vaccinated. Please be prepared for this kind of thing and have someone around to support you at all times! I wish I had stood my ground. He is 2 now and seems perfect, but that's still in the back of my mind.
Wannalotta, the hospital will tell you anything you want to hear until you are actually admitted in the hospital where you basically sign your rights away from the beginning. You're in the driver's seat at home and that's it, period.
That's great you've hired a doula to make a birth plan for you, but do not be deceived into thinking your birth plan will be honored at the hospital. Do you have any idea what an OB Nurse has to do on their shift? Reading your birth plan is far from their mind. My neighbor's daughter is an OB Nurse and she's told me that people who bring in a birth plan are usually treated worse, because they are automatically labled as "difficult". Unless you're being a good girl (your wife) and obeying their rules, many hospitals will make life difficult for you on purpose if you go against their norm. The stories my neighbor's daughter tells me are horrific. Yes, people have had good hospital experiences, but don't assume you will be one of the few just because you have a "good plan and resolve". The bottom line is this: you don't know what will happen until you get there.
On the other hand, in a home birth, you still don't know what will happen, per se, but you do have a few absolutes. The one and main absolute is control! I won't try to convince you to birth at home, as it seems your mind is already made up, but rest assure that home births have been proven more safe for both mother and baby than hospitals births. Look at homebirth midwife stats, their transport rates are around >1-3%. The need for a hospital is highly overrated.
Running out of room here, but one last thing. Breech births are NOT safe in hospitals at all! In US hospitals, they are still doing routine C-Sections for breech births. In a homebirth, midwives know this is simply another variation of normal and can handle it. Go to YouTube and do a search on breech home births.

I wish to express my gratitude to Dr. Mercola for his continued updates and truth quest concerning vaccination and particularly the Hep B that is insanely given to infants. I believe my little boy was damaged by this vaccination. If it was not for Dr. Mercola's newsletter and self study I believe I would continue to perpetuate the damage that this vaccination as well as other needless vaccinations has done to my son. Through his newsletter and other organizations I have been able to hold true to protecting my son and his younger sibling from further damage. The current medical community treat you like your going to murder your child if they do not receive every vaccination on the childhood maintenance list. If I did not constantly read articles and research on my own it would be easy to fall to the medical communities scorn and harm my son further. I too cried when I read this. It was 1992, so I couldn't remember for sure. I knew there was an optional vaccine they brought to my attention, but couldn't remember what it was called. I looked it up, and there it was in his baby book, in my own handwriting. I just sat there, sobbing, "I didn't know! I didn't know!" We wondered for years why he would run back and forth for hours at a time, grunt, rock back and forth, and grimace for no reason. He doesn't know how to maintain a relationship, and has severe OCD. It didn't happen right away - he seemed normal as a baby and toddler. But by the time he went to school at 6, you didn't have to spend very much time with him to know he was 'different'. What I wouldn't give to have had this information when I was a new mom. Now I want to warn others, but sadly, they just give me that blank stare when I say something.......
I remember it like it was yesterday.... "Would you like him to have this new Hep B vaccine? It's a really good idea." Then they stand there expectantly waiting for you to sign the form. If you hesitate, they are ready with a paper about all the awful symptoms of the disease, and really scare you into thinking his life is in danger if you don't protect him. I was so young and uninformed I didn't realize it was mainly a disease of prostitutes and drug users. They gave me no useful info to make an informed decision, just scared me. I can remember what I said though, "Yea, sure, might as well." My gut was screaming no, but I didn't have the info to back it up. I've had to do a lot of EFT on that to forgive myself......

Your story and your son sound so much like mine! Except by the time my son was born (2000), I don't think the vaccine was even optional anymore. In fact, they did it without even asking or telling me until after the fact. Because of this (among other poor decisions I've made), I have had to forgive myself a lot as well.
Interesting you said your son seemed pretty normal until he was about 6. My son was the same way. He was always a little different, even as a baby and toddler, but fairly normal. The only thing that sent off any warning bells at that time was that he was a very late walker (almost 2 before he walked). But he started regressing obviously at age 5 - right after his "booster" shots. :( This seems to be more unusual, for autism/Asperger's to "show up" later rather than earlier. In fact, it has not even been "caught" by my sons pediatrician, since it didn't show up until that late, and the fact that we no longer go for well-child visits or vaccinations. He has only been informally diagnosed by myself and my colleagues who are allied health professionals. I don't trust a doctor enough to even take him for diagnosis. How sad is that?
I am a pharmacist and Dr.Mercola's information is really making me question my profession! I am new to his website but I find his information very interesting and I know that drug companies are only looking out for themselves and don't care what they are doing to people. However, I can help myself and my family stay protected with the information Dr.Mercola is presenting. I am just amazed at the crap that I was taught in school but so was he. Thank you for helping me see the light and unfortunatly I don't think the rest of the world will follow his advise, otherwise I might be looking for a new profession.
Yes... it seems like madness but don't you realize that all this newborns are liable to leave the hospital and immediately start sharing needles and being promiscuous???? While we are at it, why don't we start implanting RFID chips into newborns in case they are kidnapped since the risk of kidnapping is actually higher than the risk that a newborn will be exposed to Hep B. These two ideas are not so different and dont think for a minute that the next fight will be "chipping". Brace yourselves sheeple!
I almost wonder if the vaccines could be "chipped"....there I go with wild conspiracy theories again...but the metals in the vacs can affect your energy field.

We shouldn't have to say anything but the powers that be (Big Pharma) control the public propaganda (TV, radio, newspapers) and only cares about corporate profits. The Hepatitis B is now routinely given to babies before they leave the hospital. Unless a parent opts out before going to some hospitals, the parent has given away the right to refuse immunizations for a newborn. If you read the package insert for the HepB, it contains CASEIN = casein allergy = milk allergy = profits for the company that makes baby formula = same companies that make the vaccines....
Always something with vaccines.
