Geithner Told To Quit After E Mails Reveal Involvement In AIG Cover-up

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner’s denial that he played any role in the AIG cover-up is contradicted by emails which confirm that both Geithner and the New York Federal Reserve were both intimately involved in keeping details about payments to banks including Goldman Sachs from the public.
Geithner told lawmakers today that he had no involvement in withholding information about the bailout of AIG, much to the chagrin of House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Darrell Issa, who wasn’t buying it for a second.
“He has asserted complete ignorance of the Fed’s efforts to cover up the bailout details,” said Issa, R-Calif. “Many Americans, including members of this Committee, have a hard time believing that Secretary Geithner entered an absolute cone of silence on the day that his nomination was announced.”
John Mica of Florida went further, calling for Geithner to quit as a result of the scandal.
“Why shouldn’t we ask for your resignation?” Mica asked Geithner. “We’re not getting the whole story, we’re getting the blame story. You’re either incompetent on the job or you knew what was taking place and you tried to conceal it, and I think that’s grounds for your review.”
Mica characterized Geithner’s denials as “lame excuses” as the Treasury Secretary became visibly angry.
In November and December 2008, The Federal Reserve Bank of New York, headed up by Geithner, instructed the bailed out AIG to hide from the public details regarding payments the insurance giant made to banks, including Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Societe Generale SA.
Using Fed secured taxpayer bailout money, AIG paid several banks 100 percent of the face value of credit-default swaps, as other financial institutions were negotiating deep discounts for the unregulated paper assets that do not have to be backed by cash.
The decision to pay the banks in full may have cost AIG, and therefore taxpayers, at least $13 billion over the odds.

The e-mails between company and regulator show that The New York Fed crossed out reference to the payments and that AIG also omitted the details when the Securities and Exchange Commission filing was made public on Dec. 24, 2008.
The emails, the content of which are highlighted in this Bloomberg News article, also show that the Fed wanted numerous other details about the AIG bailout withheld or delayed from public oversight.
“It appears that the New York Fed deliberately pressured AIG to restrict and delay the disclosure of important information,” said Issa, adding that taxpayers “deserve full and complete disclosure under our nation’s securities laws, not the withholding of politically inconvenient information.”
Geithner’s denial that he, even as President of the New York Fed, had no involvement with the AIG case is contradicted by fresh revelations this week in a new report issued by Issa that show Geithner was “at a minimum, engaged personally in reviewing what information about the AIG bailout would be revealed to Congress and the public.”
On November 6, 2008 Geithner received an email from Sarah Dahlgren, the FRBNY’s lead staff member in AIG’s operations, seeking Geithner’s approval for a proposed statement regarding AIG’s upcoming equity capital raise. The fact that Geithner’s approval had to be obtained merely for putting out statements concerning AIG clearly indicates that he was deeply involved in the matter.
On November 13, Geithner was sent a report on AIG’s restructuring that would be sent to Congress. Sophia Allison, a staff member of the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors, asked that Geithner point out any information that he believed should not be “publicly disclosed”.
In addition, records of who Geithner met with during his tenure as President of the FRBNY “show that he was regularly engaged with top AIG officials and the FRBNY officials directly responsible for AIG’s disclosures to the SEC. Geithner’s schedule shows that he had at least six formal meetings with top FRBNY staff members about AIG-related issues between November 4, 2008, and November 21, 2008.”

The End Game is already here and has been for decades. Just look at HIV and vaccines that damage everyone’s imune systems, toxins in our food and water, medications with serious side effects – these are “soft kill,” plain and simple that curb entitlements years in advance.
This will escalate as we are seeing more and more emerging viruses and life threatening conditions and just like fractional banking it will grow and grow unitl the soft kill becomes a household routine. When that fails to maintain a cap on the citizens of this earth, there will come a day when a plague will arrive in the form of the end game and like credit cards it will be the solution to a growing problem that suddenly reaches crisis proportions.
I wish I could say something different, but too much has been spent in building the infrastructure for this behind the storefront of an elite fascist dictatorship disguised as national security and the war on terrorism and the struggle to save our economy. Given enough propaganda spin and extended hardship the people will be misled to that end.
I hate to punish people, but, considering the MAGNITUDE of the crimes, HARSH penalties are required to send out a powerful message to all of the criminal elite, no matter how high and to WAKE UP the masses to the reality and seriousness of our situation. If we get a very real and serious awakening among the masses, we may stem some of this, but it dos not appear there is any time to waste – NONE!
Good luck to all of you, find someone and some things in life to love and care about and get what you can on the spiritual level.
The vid you posted is good, I have been onboard with the wake up call for years and now I am old. If we did anything for humanity over past decade to wake up the masses in time, it would really bring a heartfelt joy to see at least the real begining of the big turn around, in the name of humanity and for humanity. Yes I agree, I personally have found spiritual guideness and have come to under stand holy Hebrew and Greek scripture in a profound way.
I have spent my entire life searching for spiritual truth and I never noticed it was always around me. one time in my life I was contemplating being a catholic priest. But in my teenage years I found out the truth about the history of my faith. And was disgusted by the actions of those in the past and present that commit atrocities in the name of the Christ and peace. Leaving a bad taste about Christendom like “a WORMWOOD plant in drinking water.”
I have found important messages in the book of Revelation that they will not let me post here for those seeking the real truth.

Gotcha, had to look up the word “usury”. Same concept as lending money out and charging interest. I read in the bible where it says, “Leave this world owing no man”. and i took that to mean, if you can`t afford it, don`t get it on credit, whereby you will be charged interest.
As far as the fed helping the Haitian people: They are saving some from starving or dying of thirst, but if they really wanted to help, they wouldn’t be giving them gmo food or food with pesticides/herbicides. They could give them organic food, which is highly nutritional, and help get some organic crops going, as well as digging some wells for fresh water,etc. But many of us that are awake know better than that, seeing how they are poisoning us with the toxic food supply here.
Not to mention they are talking about making it illegal for Americans to grow our own gardens without using their toxic pesticides/herbicides.

That’s why true Christians don’t eat animal products, exept in emergency situations (like after the flood, when no plants were available, dead animal bodies were allowed to eat).
Thou shall not kill does not exlude animals but is a general command.

I am saddened at the idea that anybody would actually believe your personal interpretation of the book of Revelation, just as I am sure you think I am a fool. I don’t claim to know better than you what the truth is, aside from a simple faith in Jesus Christ that we probably both share. But seriously… sometimes people look so hard for the truth that they become blind to it, and I suspect you have reached that point. No offense. Your comments about Alex are spot-on however. Like many of you, I have been following these issues for several years – six years in total. I want to say that I do not think it is in our interests to pursue capital punishment for people like Geitner and lower ourselves to their level – which is the level of violence that they inflict on humanity. The changes that need to be effected in society are structural and legal changes.
I think we can be fairly certain that even if some perpetrators did receive capital punishment, they would only be the puppets and the true perpetrators at the top would go free. I believe that what is important is that the USA uses the incredible power of the two-thirds plus majority that it now has in opposition to the bankers to drive total reform of the US banking system (including the corrupt and private-owned Federal Reserve Bank) as its highest priority.

Regardless of what Geithner has or hasn’t done and yes he should be asked to resign along with Larry Summers BUT I keep noticing these republicans keep denying the FACT that Bush, Paulson and the republican majority was also RESPONSIBLE for what happened!
It seems to me that the history of America started on January 20th, 2009 for many republicans. They don’t like what President Obama is doing about the MESS they left this country in while they were in charge of it. They have no real ideas other then further tax cuts for the wealthy and more tax breaks for corporations, they obstruct the democratic process each and every day, not for the good of the country but for the good of their own party.
Say what you want about President Obama, but the guy has inherited a colossal mess that isn’t going to be corrected in one, two or three years. I’m not happy with Obama either but for cripes sakes I sure would like to know where all of the concern and outrage was when Bush dropped the ball on 9/11 (inside job) lied us into war, kept war funding off the budget books, broke the FISA law (before 9/11), politicized the justice department, outed a CIA agent, Allowed Enron and others to write our energy bill behind closed doors, allowed Bin Laden to escape in Tora Bora, pushed for the “ownership” society, pushed for privatizing social security (imagine seniors now had this been down before the collapse of Wall Street).
I don’t care much for the democratic party but I DESPISE the republican party. They don’t care about the average American, they only care about the corporations. And they sucker the Christian voter to vote for them because they allegedly oppose abortion. They call themselves the party of family values and tell us how we should live our lives while they are out having affairs, preying on children and trying to have gay sex in airport restrooms. Phuck the republican party. If the teabag movement knew what was best they would run as far away from the GOP as they can.
