Big Pharma Ties Want to Shut Down Vaccine 'Conspiracy Theories'

big pharma, pharmaceutical, W3C, world wide web consortium, tim berners-lee, www, web, internet, freedom of speech, censorship, conspiracy, conspiracy theory, vaccines, MMRA foundation populated by the giants of business, banking, government and military wants to “vet” websites and limit the spread of information that it says creates “conspiracy theories”.

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) says it is worried about the way the web has been “used to spread disinformation”. They want to introduce a new system that would give websites a label for trustworthiness or unreliability.

One “damaging conspiracy theory” they want to shut down is the notion that MMR vaccines are harmful. Of course, this “conspiracy theory” stems not from paranoid forum postings and misquoted blog entries, but from scientific research into the mercury based preservative thimerosal.

Thimerosal was developed by Eli Lilly, and Merck is the world’s largest supplier of the MMR triple jab -- and it is little wonder W3C considers such information to be “damaging” given that Eli Lilly and Merck are both paid up and approved members of the Consortium! If anyone should be labeled with an “unreliable” rating, it is the WC3.

Dr. Mercola Dr. Mercola's Comments:

One of the reasons I love the web is because it offers access to virtually limitless amounts of information. Information needed to make conscious, well-informed decisions about your health, for example. Today, the web is one of the few places where you can find non-suppressed truth being told, as the vast majority of mainstream media has been corporately influenced and biased to the point where many are little more than mouthpieces for various industry interests.

It also allows a forum for everyone, including me, to be challenged.

However, what the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is proposing is to pull the plug on free speech, free thinking, truth telling, and personal decision making, where only industry-sponsored propaganda is allowed to flourish freely.

What a nightmare.

What is the World Wide Web Consortium?

W3C is an international consortium of members that work together to develop Web standards and guidelines to make sure that various web technologies are compatible, and that hardware and software used to access the web work together. Since 1994, W3C has published more than 110 such standards, called W3C Recommendations.

As of 23 September 2008, the W3C has 420 Members, which include many of the biggest players of the corporate world, colleges and universities, hospitals, pharmaceutical giants, government agencies, and military entities.

Are You Capable of Rational, Independent Thought?

Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director and inventor of the World Wide Web, said in his BBC News interview:

The internet needs a way to help people separate rumor from real science. On the web the thinking of cults can spread very rapidly and suddenly a cult which was 12 people who had some deep personal issues find a formula which is very believable. A conspiracy theory of sorts, and one which you can imagine spreading to thousands of people and being deeply damaging."

He follows up by saying:

"One of the things I always remain concerned about is that the medium remains neutral. It's not just where I go to decide where to buy my shoes -- which is the commercial incentive -- it's where I go to decide who I'm going to trust to vote. It's where I go maybe to decide what sort of religion I'm going to belong to or not belong to; it's where I go to decide what is actual scientific truth -- what I'm actually going to go along with and what is bunkum."

Now I have enormous respect for Tim; by every right he should be the richest person on the planet as he invented the web (not the internet) but consciously chose to let it be free and open, and did not retain any intellectual ownership of it.

What is so deeply disturbing about this though is that he, along with his consortium members, believe they have a monopoly on neutral and truthful information; that somehow some “entity” should decide for you what’s “bunkum” and what’s not, rather than letting you make up your own mind.

Based on the conspiracy theories, or “cult thinking,” examples he gave, letting this group have anything to do with deciding what scientific truth is, is nothing short of information genocide; vital truths that can save lives will be effectively driven into the silent depths, with their “unreliable” or “false” labels around their necks like a two-ton slab of cement.

Have You Heard the Rumors About Vaccines?

Of particular concern to Berners-Lee and the consortium is what he refers to as “the spread of rumors” that the MMR vaccine given to children in Britain is harmful

Rumors? What rumors?

What about the undisputed fact that the British government introduced three brands of MMR vaccines in 1988, and by 1992, two of those brands were withdrawn from the market after serious adverse reactions were recorded in Canada, Japan and Britain? Granted, at the time the government announced it was merely a "change in supply," rather than fessing up the ugly truth. Only later was it admitted that these vaccines had caused encephalitis (a serious brain condition) in some children.

Far from what the W3C would have you believe, the fears that vaccines are harmful and damage children’s health are anything but unfounded conspiracy theories created by a hysterical few.

And, although autism gets most of the attention when discussing vaccines, it's by no means the only health risk. The MMR vaccine, for example, is not implicated directly as causing autism, since it does not contain mercury, but rather as having other dangerous side effects and potentially being a contributor to other neurological disorders that stem from over-vaccination.

The list of scientific research backing these claims is a very long one. (For a short list, see this link.) Yet somehow the totality of these findings is to be ignored as disinformation from within the scientific and medical community itself?

Another interesting fact to note is that most of the studies funded by industry conclude vaccines are safe, whereas independent studies keep finding serious flaws and raise alarming questions about their safety and efficacy.

Could this be because the pharmaceutical industry is worth more money than the gross domestic product (GDP) of these COUNTRIES?

  • Belgium ($448.5 billion)
  • Sweden ($444 billion)
  • Switzerland ($415.5 billion)
  • Norway ($382 billion)
  • Saudi Arabia ($381.7 billion)

What most people don’t realize is that the pharmaceutical industry’s power and influence over government, the field of conventional medicine, and your mind through massive marketing efforts, is in a class of its own. In fact, if placed on the list ranking the countries of the world according to gross domestic product, the pharmaceutical industry would rank number 17 out of 185 countries in 2007!

If you still believe that money doesn’t talk; where have you been?

Just the Facts, Ma’am

In the early 1980s, the incidence of autism was 1 in 10,000 births. In 2001, it was 1 in 500, and by 2005, the incidence had leaped to 1 in 250 births.

Today it is 1 in 150 births, and some estimate lower than one in 50, and still climbing.

One of the strongest links to this terrible set of disorders was a drastic change in the vaccine programs of the United States and many other countries, which included a dramatic increase in the number of vaccines being given at a very early age.

No other explanation has been forthcoming from the medical elite.

In 1976, children received 10 vaccines before attending school. Today they will receive over 36 injections. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Center for Disease Control assures parents that it is safe to not only give these vaccines, but that it’s safe to give multiple vaccinations at the same time.

Is this true? Or are we being lied to on a grand scale?

The medical establishment has created a set of terms, which they use constantly to boost their egos and firm up their authority as the unique holders of medical wisdom -- the mantra is “evidence-based medicine”, as if everything outside their anointing touch is bogus and suspect.

But a careful examination of many of the accepted treatments reveals that most have little or no scientific “evidence-based” data to support it.

One often repeated study found that almost 80 PERCENT of medical practice had NO scientific backing!

There’s a persistent double standard when it comes to “our” evidence versus “theirs.” The proponents of vaccination safety can just say they are safe, without any supporting evidence what-so-ever, and it is to be accepted without question or opposition.

Yet, let any otherwise accomplished scientist or medical expert suggest that excessive vaccination can increase the risk of not only autism, but a host of other neurodegenerative diseases as well, and the proponents claim there’s “no supporting evidence,” despite the reams of studies showing harm is being done.

Censorship by Any Other Name is Still Censorship

What the W3C consortium is offering by labeling web sources as either “reliable” or “unreliable” is nothing but an extension of this already corrupted “evidence-based” system.

Mandatory vaccine policies depend on overwhelming public acceptance, but public confidence is being eroded by reports in the free media on the web about conflicts of interest, secrecy, and questionable data. No wonder the industry feels pressured to put on the gloves and quench the opposing side once and for all.

But the whole concept of the government and industry forcing experimental treatment on healthy individuals is disturbing to those who value freedom, and unilaterally censoring information deemed unfavorable to industry interests should be an outrage to all capable of independent thought.

Where do I start with the comments on this one???

I am seeing this all the time with all the fear mongering stories on MSNBC, CNN, and other news organizations. I thought they were being brought to the media by the pharma org and I guess I was right.

The problem I have is who will decide whether the information is correct? Many anti-vax people actually came to their decision by looking at the package inserts provided by the drug manufacturers and the CDC Pink Book. Even though on the surface they say to vax, there are many references in teh CDC website to the serious diseases being in such low numbers that even the CDC admits that someone is more likely to be injured by a vax that to get a vax preventable disease.

The next problem I have is so many of the facts are wrong with this article (and most articles actually)! MMR is a live virus vaccine so it can't contain mercury (thimerosal). It never has and never will. I am so sick of hearing how people thinks MMR causes autism because it contains mercury. Many vaccines do contain mercury - but not MMR.

Last is that not all people objects to vaccines because of the mercury. There are other dangerous substances (i.e., Aluminum) that are toxic to the body and brain.

Since the vaccines have to be cultured in a tissue of some type there are also lots of questionable ingredients such as leftover DNA/virus fragments (i.e., SV40 in the OPV vaccine). Many also use known allergens to culture the vaccine such as the flu vaccine using eggs. Last there are other questionable animal sources such as monkey kidneys, human diploid cells (from aborted fetus lines), etc.

TonkaTruck, honestly, I couldn't have put it better myself - you've hit the whole thing bang on the head. There is just so much wrong with this whole concept that it's beyond scary.

Right now, I firmly think the best way forward is to make it known that not everybody who is opposed to vaccines is a 'conspiracy nut'. We're logical, we know our stuff, and it's not stupid to acknowledge vaccines are extremely dangerous for a number of reasons. Make it clear what they are and be rational and logical - use evidence, not hysteria, to build the case.

For example, acknowledge that no, there is not and never has been any mercury in MMR.

Be clear that there are plenty of major concerns over their safety and toxicity as a whole - not just related to MMR and not just over autism.

Point out that with autism, it's a common set of behavioural symptoms and there is no agreed physiological cause as yet, therefore it is entirely plausible that there could be two or more causes of it at play, leading to a common outcome - genetics, which obviously play a major role in a lot of cases, but also potential environmental toxins AND vaccines, or a combination of all three.

Point out that there are plenty of reasons to be worried about them, not least of which is the way they can't ever be properly 'sterile' or uncontaminated, and the documented contamination with wild monkey viruses, including those that cause cancer, as in SV40 in polio vaccines.

Point out that it's not just mercury to worry about - it's aluminium, MSG/free glutamate, sodium borate, human (aborted fetal), bovine, chicken (egg allergies as yet undiagnosed at the age of administration?) and monkey cells, formeldehyde, soy, neomycin, etc etc.

Be reasonable, be clear, and don't perpetrate more inaccuracies or false facts. We need to be scientific and logical if we're going to get the word out and stop the fear and hysteria

Izzy - Dr Martin Pall has developed a theory that the upregulation of the NO/ONOO cycle in our bodies is responsible for the development of conditions such as MCS, CFS and FM. His theory is regarded as being a strong contender as the cause of these multisystem disorders and the only one to date that explains the crossover of symptoms between these conditions and why symptoms can vary from patient to patient. He also suggests that the NO/ONOO cycle may be the cause of a number of other disorders including autism. He mentions several possible triggering factors such as genetic susceptibility, viruses and thimerosol. If you are interested in reading about his theories, the paperback version of his book "Explaining Unexplained Illnesses" is reasonably priced on Amazon. Here is the link to it.

Many people have focused so strongly on mercury that they've painted a picture that vaccines = thimerasol  = autism.

People sympathetic to the cause (such as this article's source) are left with much conflicting information to sift through. The mercury = autism idea is combined with the notion that MMR is suspected to cause autistic enterocolitis, children receiving MMR boosters see increases in autistic symptoms, and the vaccine-strain measles virus has been found in the cerebro-spinal fluid of some autistic children.

The vaccine propaganda machine is also at fault. They're waging a "counterinsurgency" campaign that deliberately places vaccine opponents in questionable positions, much in the same way that "quackbusters" place complementary medicine proponents in the same context as paranormal and space alien followers. These people have essentially trademarked the highly respected terms “skepticism” and “science” and made them virtually interchangable. Where's their skepticism toward the claims of a self-policing billion dollar industry? Where's the science in proclaiming a “fact” like vaccines do not cause autism when science isn't anywhere near the point of being able to PROVE it one way or another? Where's the open-minded curiosity of the scientist who takes no correlation off the table until he PROVES there's no causation? On whose side is the researcher whose quest to understand reality comes before the quest to placate industry?

The industry often frames the debate without our realizing it.

Another insidious way to frame the debate is the using terms like "conspiracy theories". There are few things more absurd in our world than the idea that people who believe in conspiracies are crazy. People conspire on every level of life whether it's one person conspiring to get a job, a bunch of people conspiring to get their candidate elected over another, one company conspiring to have their product gain greater market share. Each of these frequently involves deliberate conspiracies to defeat their opponents.

Wake up people: conspiracies are everywhere and we're all involved!

Amen, Islander!

The only potential problem I see with this is that the internet is constantly growing and changing, so they can't possibly - at least for some time yet - vet all sites on the internet. The problem for us, however, is it will be the biggest and most reliable sites that get hit first, for example mercola.com and naturalnews.com [the bigger and more subversive, the more powerful they'll have to punch].

On the flipside, it could also mean that the thinking people start to look for a 'inaccurate/false info/etc' rating and use that as their guide to what sites have reliable information instead. If big pharma say a site promoting natural cancer cures, for example, is dodgy, then the chances are there's something in what's being said that they don't like and therefore it could well be truthful. You can always tell what true dodgy sites are by the crap coding and multitude of spelling and grammar mistakes, and wildly false claims anyway. It's not difficult.

Which is another reason why this is so sinister - people can tell when a site is legitimate if they use half an ounce of common sense. Why do they feel such a need to shut things down?

Clearly, they're running scared if they're coming up proposals such as this - people, keep up the stream of information and speaking out about this; this is one thing we can win.

I have been thinking for some time, that big Pharma...and the 'food' industry, must be running around like headless chickens...trying to figure out a way to put the lid back on Pandora's Box!!
Now that the Internet allows anyone to research anything and use their power of logic to understand what is really more likely to be honest and correct, it was only a queston of time before many money-making interests tried to shut down, ban, various parts of the system to stop the peasants from becoming educated and thinking beings.....
....Heaven forbid that we should all start thinking logically and in more depth.Just think what that would mean for all the scammers, liars, cheats, etc...... and the honest and beneficial organisations and individuals...:)

I still find this VERY scary because this is not the end. I read earlier today that the CDC is putting together an organization to be the go-to source for vaccine information. I don't remember how but Paul Offit (vaccine patent holder) is involved.

Paul Offit also says "Given the increasing number of states allowing philosophical exemptions to vaccines, at some point we are going to be forced to decide whether it is our inalienable right to catch and transmit potentially fatal infections."
http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vac-gen/laws/fatal-exemption.htm

This link talks about how we have no constitutional rights to exemptions:

Thankyou for the links.  We all need to learn all we can about this very serious subject.  I feel that our rights as individuals to make decisions regarding our health are being threatened daily.  We need to keep on fighting to insure that our children are protected from policies that do not reveal the truth about the dangers of vaccines.

TonkaTruck and Dizzy make such powerful points that there's no need for anything but a "ditto."

However, in a different vein: This is not the first proposal to regulate a vehicle that is essentially unregulatable, and it probably will not be the last. Powerful forces will attempt to control, intimidate, evaluate and prioritize or even charge for the dissemination of information. I doubt  that any of them will succeed as long as we remain alert and vigilant to speak out against such regulation.

The fact is, the Internet has become the last remaining source for unvarnished truth. Print and broadcast media are all bought and paid for. It's imperative that this last resource remain open to all, so that critical thinkers can assess information and arrive at their own conclusions...even if it means putting on a tinfoil hat.

If I were to see anything "vetted," it would be the preposterous claims made on commercial television - especially by the pharmaceutical industry.

Conspiracy theory is what they want everyone else to believe. They want to pass everyone off as a crazy nutjob to reinforce their own credibility. This is by far glaringly obvious of how far Pharma will go to protect their profits and cover up their own dirty work. Without a doubt, they never wanted people to know the truth from the beginning. The internet goes both ways, so why Pharma of all people get to have its own little "special privilege"? There are billions of lies and billions of truths all over the internet. And one of the truths is that vaccines are dangerous, and Pharma is even more dangerous.

I'm no scientist. But when you have mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, dyes, disinfectants, heavy metals, industrial chemicals, antifreeze, human cells, animal cells, carcinogens, mutagens, genotoxins, and industrial chemicals mixed into one, it's hazardous waste and chemical warfare. How stupid do they think we all are? In the history of civilization, there is no one that is more without conscience than Pharma who would inject this kind of stuff into millions of children generation after generation.

Forget MMR. Every vaccine should be seen as equally dangerous as any other.

No, it's not going to suddenly stop everyone. It just reinforces those who decide to hear the truth and just goes to show the extent they're willing to go to to suppress the truth and force their poison.

The entire system has failed, sould out to big industry like Pharma. They have control of every tier of government, the courts, almost every doctor, and now they want control of the internet too. They are more powerful than the government and more dangerous than any drug cartel that ever existed. There's not enough good to fight evil because everyone else are so blinded to believe them without question. They don't even know what they're doing, or refuse to hear the truth even if it's right in front of their eyes. They're winning without even a fight...

Slightly off-topic, I just HAVE to point out this site I just saw advertised on TV. It's hilarious in how crazy it is. Much like that corn syrup site. This is why I never bother with the idiot-box...

http://www.satfatnav.com

"Saturated fat is good for you, that's why you should eat margarine! Go to our website to learn the truth!

"Margarine or spreads are made from vegetable or seed oils (e.g. sunflower oil), which contain good fats like monounsaturates and polyunsaturates. So compared to butter, which is basically made from cream (the fat of the milk), margarine naturally tends to have fewer bad fats (like saturated fat)."

(Sponsored by Unilever)

'Naturally', huh? If this is the future of the internet I don't know what we'll do. Go back to tin-can radio?

Someone posted a link to that on another thread the other day, think it might've been Samurai. Maybe they're doing them for everything?

I dunno, in between this kind of advertising, Codex Alimentarius, and now the proposal of internet censorship of this form it's all getting a bit scary. Though exciting, too - they're obviously scared of what's happening or they wouldn't be doing all this.

We mustn't buy into the fear though - fear is the greatest weapon and it's what they want us to be.
