WHO wants faster, more flu vaccine production

HONG KONG – The vaccine used to contain the recent swine flu pandemic was effective, but health authorities will need to ramp up the speed and volume of production during the next global outbreak, a World Health Organization official said Monday.

The WHO declared last month that the swine flu pandemic that started in June 2009 was over, after it killed about 18,600 people worldwide, far less than the worse-case scenarios in which authorities said millions could die.

The widespread use of vaccines was critical in limiting the number of casualties, with studies showing they offered protection in up to 95 percent of cases, WHO official David Wood said at a news conference on the sidelines of an influenza conference in Hong Kong.

Some 350 million doses of the vaccine were administered worldwide, according to WHO figures.

"That gives us considerable hope for the future, for the future pandemics, that the technologies that we have to actually make the vaccines are" effective, said Wood, the quality and safety team co-ordinator for the WHO's immunization and vaccines department.

But while vaccines became available six months after the H1N1 virus strain behind the pandemic was identified in April 2009, that was still too late for some countries, he said. In the case of the U.S., vaccination started on Oct. 5, 2009 — weeks after a second wave of cases hit as schools resumed, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention flu expert Nancy Cox told reporters.

The WHO is studying ways to make vaccines more quickly, Wood said without offering specifics, adding that technological breakthroughs will also speed up the process.

"In the short term, we'll be able to make some gains of weeks that Nancy was talking about that can make all the difference. In the longer term, we may even have these new technologies that shorten our lag more significantly, so I'm quite optimistic," Wood said.

The WHO official also said the global healthy body is working on increasing global production capacity beyond the centers of Europe, America and China, targeting countries like India, Indonesia, Thailand, Brazil and Mexico.

The WHO was accused by some of hyping the pandemic, prompting excessive buying of vaccines and antiviral drugs that enriched drug companies. Asked about such accusations, Wood said the organization only advised countries to vaccinate high-risk groups, like health care workers and pregnant women.

"I believe that the recommendations that came from the organization were proportionate to the risks that we had at the time," he said.

Look and see who owns all these large pharmaceutical companies. They all want population control. I read today where there is a large out break of cholora in Africa somewhere, the worst in 20 years. Coincidence ?

Call me skeptical if you will. What a wonderful way to control the masses, through large scale innoculations, why they could put in a computer chip in there and no one would ever know...Someone sure plugs these flu shots like crazy using scare tactics like the swine flu.

Re: "Pandemic" swine flu outbreak 2009:

As early as February 2009 news alerts were issued of widespread swine flu (H1N1) epidemics in the Ukraine and in Mexico. Vaccine was ordered and shipped to various countries and used in immunizing their citizens. The vaccine was administered in the Ukraine and in Mexico. The WHO (World Health Organization) legally was gearing to make vaccinations mandatory in order to prevent a global "pandemicd". This effort by the WHO was quashed for the reason as follows:

One of the countries to receive the shipped vaccine was the Czech Republic. Prior to approving it for administration to its citizenry, a bio-tech lab in the Czech Republic decided to test the vaccine upon receipt. Sixteen ferrets were injected with the vaccine; all died. On further testing it was discovered that the vaccine was contaminated with live bird flu virus which rendered the vaccine lethal.

When this information became public, the WHO (World Health Organization) ceased its efforts to require mandatory global immunizations. It seems most likely that the "pandemics" were man made instead of being of a natural process. The so called vaccinations programs did not halt the "pandemic. The pandemic was halted because the vaccines were recalled and vaccinations were stopped.

The manufacturer of the vaccine admitted to a "mistake". A "mistake" of such nature is very questionable, unlikely, impossible. Vaccine manufacturers are required to operate at a Bio Safety Level 3 or higher. A "mistake" with such deadly consequence is deliberate rather than accidental. Had the lab in the Czech Republic not tested the vaccine and made its information public, the vaccinations would have been made mandatory, resulting in greater "pandemics" with depopulation results in the millions if not billions.

The WHO itself should have used its resources to determine the safety of the vaccine; why didn't they?
Why was WHO willing to subject the earth's population to possible major extinctions without determining the safety of what they were recommending?

Is the answer that WHO's primary agenda is population reduction? In that case it is most appropriate for all who propose and are for depopulation to take the first places in line in the reduction process. That would take care of the over-population matter for us all.

Ironically, in the last 15 years, the one year I got a flu shot was the one year I got the flu.

I know some argue that "the flu was already in you" before I actually came down with it, and can't blame the shot. But I would argue that the toxic garbage they put in flu shots may have done more to trigger the flu than prevent it. We have no way of knowing what's really in a flu shot, and if its from the government that is currently into Enron-style accounting and statistics reporting, why trust it.

The other 14 years, no flu shot, no flu.

Increases in swine and bird flu are directly related to the overcrowding of farm animals in factory farming operations in the U.S. and worldwide.

These animals are forced to stand in their own urine and feces sometimes 24 hours a day. The urine and feces produces large amounts of ammonia and other corrosive gases which burns away these animals protective mucus membranes in their sinus cavities and respiritory tracts making them highly vulnerable to virus and bacterial infections.

Because of overcrowding these animals are forced to vomit, bleed, defecate, urinate, cough and sneeze on one another.....and also attack one another. This also increases disease spread.

Often the birds beaks are cut off to keep them from pecking and wounding each other in overcrowded conditions which breed agression. Cutting off their beaks and tails (pigs) is the cheap/cruel alternative to giving them more space.

To control bacterial infection in these close, overcrowded conditions the animals must be constantly dosed with antibiotics which breeds antibiotic resistance and deadlier bacteria which can then spread to humans.

The waste lagoons that these factory farm operations create when feces and urine is dropped through the floor of the factory "barns" and washed outside to giant pits are one of the largest sources of river water pollution and fish kills nationwide. These feces/urine pits often overflow or are deliberately drained into nearby rivers. (In one case of factory farm waste lagoon dumping/overflow into the Neuce River in North Carolina, an estimated 2 BILLION fish were killed as they migrated up and down the Neuce River from the Atlantic Ocean during spawning season and were overcome by pig feces/urine).

The solution to this plague of swine and bird flu, antibiotic resistance and e-coli is to buy meat from animals that were raised in a humane "FREE RANGE/ORGANIC" manner.

Animals that ARE allowed to range freely over the land DO NOT require continous dosages of drugs to stay healthy and their meat is healthier because they eat natural grasses etc. instead of genetically engineered soy and corn which cows are not evolved to eat. (cows have a four chambered stomach evolved to eat grass, NOT soy, corn and other grains).

Eating feed that is NOT grass makes cows sick and disrupts their digestive bacteria allowing e-coli to flourish.

Cows fed corn, soy and other grains also produce LARGER amounts of methane gas than grass fed cows.

The feces/urine pits are a sea of flies, maggots, hundreds of species of bacteria and intensely foul odor which is not natural but caused by the concentration of the waste and the feed that the animals are fed, which is often food the livestock were NOT evolved to eat.

My daughter had the swine flu last year. As an otherwise healthy, strong, 17 year old, she was in bed for exactly two days but had to stay out of school her senior year for two weeks because of all the rules terrified school officials put in place. I am glad that she was healthy, though, and believe that anyone who has lung or chronic problems should probably get vaccinated. By the way, I have COPD because of my parents' second hand smoke, and I didn't get the flu from her. But I got the vaccine later when it became available. I think that all these scare tactics are just too much.
