How to Identify Ithaca Parallel/Serial Interface Printers

Note: Ithaca/Transact uses a wide variety of different serial and parallel shaped interfaces making it difficult in some cases to identify if you are replacing a parallel or serial version of a printer.

If replacing a Series 150, 610, 280, POSJet1000 or POSJet1500 printer look at the guildlines below:

  1. Look at the bottom of the printer and note the model number. The last letter either P (Parallel) or S (Serial) designates the interface.
    153 ParallelPOSJet 1000
  2. Count the number of pins.
    1. Serial can have 9 male pins or 25 female pinholes:
      1. 9 Male Pin Serial
        9 Pin Serial
      2. 25 Pin Female Serial
        25 Pin Female
    2. Parallel can also have 25 female pinholes or the more standardadized Centronics 36 pin female connector.
      1. 36 Female Pins for Centronics Parallel
        Centronics Parallel
      2. 25 Pin Female Parallel
        25 Pin Female
