Dear Glimmer Train Readers and Writers,

In this issue:
Pregnant on step, 1957
  • Upcoming deadlines and results announcements. The December Fiction Open closes December 31.

  • Roy Parvin, award-winning author of In the Snow Forest and The Loneliest Road in America, on place.

  • List of latest pieces accepted for publication in Glimmer Train Stories.

  • A significant (and happy) change to our submission guidelines.

Upcoming deadlines, results, changes:

  • The December Fiction Open closes December 31.
  • Last fall's Short Story Award for New Writers results will be posted
here on December 31, as promised. (Some of you were understandably concerned about whether that competition was rolled into the November Short Story Award for New Writers, but the two are discrete entities and, from now on, there won’t be any confusing overlaps!)

We've recently accepted these stories for publication in Glimmer Train Stories (note):

"Preacher Stories" by Josh Canipe
"Aftermath" by Scott Nadelson
"Plush" by Michael L. Guerra
"This Will Be Difficult to Explain and Other Stories" by Johanna Skibsrud

It’s a busy month. Wishing you close times with family and friends, and quiet stretches to yourself.

Looking forward,

Co-editors and sisters
