New research by Dr. Shawn Messonnier, author of the award-winning book The Natural
Health Bible for Dogs and Cats (Prima, 2001) shows that supplementation with B-vitamins,
choline, and lecithin can reverse signs of cognitive disorder and may actually prevent the
condition in some older dogs. In his study, using MVP's choline supplement, CHOLODIN,
Dr. Messonnier showed that 77% of the dogs with cognitive disorder improved after receiving
this product. Unlike another drug therapy that was recently approved for treating cognitive
disorder, choline supplementation is safe, inexpensive and very effective in most pets. Dr.
Messonnier suggests trying CHOLODIN for a three-week to four-week trial period. If it works,
you can avoid more expensive drug therapy usually prescribed for this common condition.
Prior to the introduction of CHOLODIN in the veterinary market, numerous case studies were
conducted to determine the benefit of dietary supplementation with the product.
Three representative cases of these studies were:
Case 1:
Fourteen-year old castrated poodle weighing 12 pounds. This dog was suffering from chronic
heart failure, lethargy and decreased mental activity. The cardiac problem had been controlled
adequately with digoxin. The owner reported a marked improvement in attitude and activity after
three weeks of treatment with CHOLODIN. Neither the clinician not the owners noted any change
in the the cardiac problem. The dosage was one tablet S.I.D.
Case 2:
Thirteen-year old castrated, domestic short-hair cat weighing seven pounds. Inappropriate urination
was the complaint; this occured near the litter box or in areas of the house. The problem ceased after
three weeks of treatment and did no recur until the supply of tablets were exhausted. After two weeks
without medication, the cat began urinating outside the litter box. After treatment was reinstituted, the
problem ceased. The dosage was one-half tablet S.I.D.
Case 3:
Eighteen-year old castrated poodle weighing 14 pounds. The owner reported increased sleep time,
poor coat and reduced mental activity. After treatment began, the dog's attitude improved greatly, and
it became more active and aware of its surroundings. The coat was slightly improved. The dosage was
one tablet S.I.D.

Phospatidylcholine (Lecithin):

Methionine:
Major methyl donor in many biochemical reactions, including synthesis of choline and epinephrine
